OBAMA-LIKE POSTERS FOR THE K of C

28 01 2009

There has been a lot of fascination with the somewhat surreal “Warhol” like posters that President Obama used in his campaign.  I wondered what some of our men might look like if we had posters.  Just for FUN, here are a few samples:

Cemetery of the Innocents

The crosses were placed on the property of Holy Family Parish in Mitchellville, MD. They are a witness to the sanctity and dignity of all human life. The display will remain from December 6 to January 9. That will take us through the season of Advent and into Christmas, just before the inauguration and the right to life march in Washington, DC.

700 plus crosses represent the number of abortions in one hour of an average work day.

It was freezing outside, but the temperature did not deter these wonderful pro-life Knights.

PRO-LIFE: Rosary for Life Participants

These are shots of participants in the Rosary for Life after Saturday night’s Mass.

We are all standing before the K of C Memorial to Unborn Children.

PRO-LIFE: Rededication of K of C Memorial to Unborn

1 06 2008

Pictured here on the left is brother Knight, Dave Thomas. After the Rosary for Life he gave us his FATHER JOE imitation. We had hoped for more knights, but the weather had been bad and the attendance was low for the Mass, overall.

THE PRO-LIFE ROSARY

I BELIEVE IN GOD, the Father almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty. He shall come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

The Joyful Mysteries

1. ANNUNCIATION – Mary faithfully received her unexpected pregnancy with the utmost trust in God. May all pregnant women do the same and welcome the life within them.

2. VISITATION – Mary and Elizabeth cared for each other and shared their immense joy. May we also nurture and celebrate motherhood as a precious gift.

3. NATIVITY – The birth of God into the human family raises up our dignity and makes every child, born and unborn, a reflection of the Christchild. May we share God’s love and respect for the children, seeing each life as immeasurable and irreplaceable.

4. PRESENTATION – Mary and Joseph presented the child Jesus in the temple as a recognition that every child belongs to God and is an expression of his creative will. May we never malign a child’s sacred dignity as simply an extension of a woman’s body.

5. FINDING JESUS IN THE TEMPLE – Mary and Joseph were anxious when Jesus could not be found. As the years passed, many would fail to find his divinity behind his humanity. Now the confusion comes full circle; may we always discern the humanity of the unborn child.

HAIL, HOLY QUEEN, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray. O GOD, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

31 05 2008

A few Knights and congregants after the 5:30 PM Mass on May 31 (Feast of the Visitation) offered a Rosary for Life in fron of the Memorial for Unborn Children.

Father Joe wrote the five short meditations for the Joyful Mysteries.

Pictured here are brother Knights, James L. Marosy and John Edward McInerney.  Joseph M. Hugya was at the Mass and out of camera range is brother Dave Thomas.

Mother’s Day & the Pro-Life Cause

11 05 2008

The flowers distributed on Mothers’ Day were acquired from the Prince George’s Right to Life. We thank the Lord for good mothers and we pray for all pregnant women, that they will make the right decision… the only GOOD CHOICE… and welcome into the world the child that rests in the womb.

We should all remember to spiritually adopt those unborn children who are in danger of being aborted.

Pictured here is our Memorial to the Unborn which was established a number of years ago by the Mother Seton Knights of Columbus Council.
