CHURCH ACTIVITIES—Vincent K. Hubbard (May 2009)

Remember that May is a special month devoted to the Blessed Mother and that we will also celebrate Mother’s Day. The parish has a special partnership with the Knights in the distribution of flowers to mothers. The Columbian year is quickly coming to a close, but we are hoping to sponsor a Marian Hour of Prayer with the Our Lady of Grace icon from Supreme.

Monthly Corporate Communion Mass – Our Mass for the council will be on Wednesday, May 27 at 7:30 PM. Our men are expected to read, serve and help with the cup. After Mass we can offer the Novena of the Miraculous Medal with the other parishioners and add our three staple Knights of Columbus prayers. Come and bring your families!

Father Michael J. McGivney Guild – We would invite all our members, especially our newest brothers to join the Guild. There is no cost.

First Saturday Eucharistic Adoration – Holy Family Parish offers this monthly opportunity for us and our families to spend an hour or even 30 minutes between 9:30 AM to 5 PM at prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance upon the altar. Our Lord is asking each of us, “Can you not spend just an hour with me?”

CHURCH ACTIVITIES—Vincent K. Hubbard (April 2009)

Our Council Knights participated and attended the Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 7:30 PM.

The Father Michael C. Kidd Knights of Columbus Council #14455 of Mitchellville, MD sponsored a SOUP AND STATIONS NIGHT at Holy Family Church. The evening began at 6:00 PM with a warm, delicious and filling soup in the parish hall. Approximately 40 parishioners enjoyed the home-made crab and zucchini bisque soup. Shrimp eggrolls were also offered. At 7:30 PM we assembled in the church for the Stations of the Cross. Our chaplain, Father Joseph Jenkins led us in a biblical way of the cross composed by the late Pope John Paul II. While one brother carried the cross from station to station, other Knights came up to the pulpit to read the appropriate passages from the New Testament. Our priest presided from the altar. The prayers were composed of three parts: leader (priest), reader (Knight) and the people (congregation). More than a hundred people attended Stations and just over 20 Knights were involved.

Monthly Corporate Communion Mass – Our Mass for the council will be on Wednesday, April 22 at 7:30 PM. Our men are expected to read, serve and help with the cup. After Mass we can offer the Novena of the Miraculous Medal with the other parishioners and add our three staple Knights of Columbus prayers. Come and bring your families!
